The swimming pool at the east end of Moores Park was dedicated as a “J. H. Moores Memorial Natatorium” in 1922. The pool originally had three diving boards, one 15 foot high dive and two low ones. In the 1970s all were removed for safety reasons. In 1981 extensive renovations were done to the pool, including the reduction in the depth of the west end.
During its many years the pool has provided fun for the children and adults of Lansing. At one time so many children came to swim on hot afternoons that they had to hold “shifts” with children waiting on long benches in front of the pool while other swimmers enjoyed the water for an hour.
